This year's STUC Annual Congress will take place in the Concert Hall Perth between 20-22 April.

The theme for Congress is “Active Unions....Rebuilding Collective Prosperity” and will focus on the vital role trade unions currently play, and will play in the future, in meeting the economic and social challenges Scotland is facing.

The STUC Annual Congress will discuss a range of potential policies which will contribute to the debate about the journey Scotland is taking. Topical issues such as the workers rights, skill and education, Scotland’s economy, the powers of the Scottish Parliament, Royal Mail, the Scottish media, violence against women, Palestine and the replacement of Trident will all be the subject of debate during Congress Congress will attract over 350 trade union delegates representing 36 Trade Unions, 22 Trades Union Councils as well as a number of international guests and speakers from the world of politics including the First Minister Alex Salmond, Scottish Labour leader Iain Gray, Education & Lifelong Learning Cabinet Secretary Fiona Hyslop and Rt Hon Harriet Harman MP, Leader of the House of Commons, and Minister for Women and Equality will address delegates.

The STUC One Workplace Equal Rights project Equality Award

The Helen Dowie Award for Lifelong Learning

The STUC Health & Safety Award sponsored by Thompsons Solicitors in Scotland

will be made to the activists who has made a significant contribution to promote these vital issues across the Scottish trade union movement.
