The BNP and campaigning against racism will be at the top of the agenda when the Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC) Black Workers’ Conference meets in Glasgow this weekend. The two day conference will be attended by black trade unionists from across Scotland and other organisations with an interest in combating racism and xenophobia.

The STUC - Scottish Parliament Trade Union Week is being held this week (6-8 October). Trade Union Week is an opportunity for MSPs and all Parliament staff to find out more about what’s happening in workplaces around the country. Trade Union members from across the public sector and many different industries will discuss their concerns and priorities with MSPs.

Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC) analysis of official government statistics released today shows that the number of young people (18-24) claiming Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) has risen by 75% on average across Scotland since 2007. This rises to well over 100% in some local authority areas.

The Fawcett Society campaign marks a national day of action to tackle the gender pay gap.
