The number of employees working unpaid overtime in Scotland increased by 20,000 in 2007, bringing the total to 436,000, according to a new analysis of official statistics published by the STUC and TUC today (Friday).

The Scottish Trades Union Congress have welcomed the decision by the Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning to exempt colleges from the need to comply fully with the current legislation governing charitable status, but retain Ministers’ powers over the sector.
