Empowering Young Workers Through Learning
Saturday 28th June will see the 68th Annual STUC Youth Conferernce meet around the key theme of empowerment through learning. Youth Conference will be addressed by young guest speakers including the Chair of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions Youth Committee, Eddie Mathews and the President-Elect of NUS Scotland and STUC Black Workers’ Committee chair, Nazerin Wardrop.
An open panel debate will be held on Sunday 29th June addressing the theme “Developing Skill - Developing Opportunities”
The panellists are;
- Maureen Watt MSP, Minister for Schools and Skills;
- John Park MSP, Opposition Spokesperson on Skills;
- Jim Baxter, Learning Organiser, Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen;
- John Slaven, Development Officer, Scottish Union Learning
The event is to be held in Perth this year, where young delegates will debate a wide variety of conemporary motions relating to workers rights, living wages, taxes, the future of the public sector, and in line with the key theme, access to education and training across Scotland.
