STUC Supports the Creation of an Inclusive Scotland at International Workers’ Memorial Day Dundee Lecture.
The Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC) will today highlight the inequality and discrimination, still faced by so many, during International Memorial Workers’ Day Lecture in Dundee.
STUC Assistant Secretary Mary Senior will say “On International Workers’ Memorial Day we honour those who have died, and we continue to fight for the living, as we strive to create an inclusive and equal Scotland”.
In a wide ranging contribution the STUC will call for actions to close the gender pay gap, tackle the ethnic penalty, and address the unemployment faced by so many disabled people.
Mary Senior said:
“We all have a role in supporting the vulnerable in our society, in welcoming newcomers to Scotland and in respecting their rights to seek a better life.
“Given the theme of this week’s STUC Congress of Unions Work for Equality and Justice, it is most appropriate that the focus of the Dundee International Workers’ Memorial Day Lecture should be on tackling discrimination and promoting equality. The STUC is clear that by harnessing the talents of all we will create a better Scotland”.
