STUC reaction to First Minister’s comments on rail dispute

Reacting to the comments by the First Minister on the current dispute between the RMT and Network Rail, STUC General Secretary Grahame Smith said:

“The First Minister’s comments were ill advised and ill judged, particularly as he did not bother to take the time to talk to the union before making them.

“If his intervention had been to encourage the Network Rail management to enter meaningful negotiations with the RMT it would have more accurately reflected the view of the travelling public.
