Commenting today (Wednesday, 6 December) on the Conservative amendment to the Scottish Parliament motion on Trade Union engagement with Scotland’s civic society, STUC General Secretary, Grahame Smith, said
"A year into David Cameron's leadership and it appears his much heralded modernising agenda has yet to make it across the border where, evidently, old Tory prejudices still exist. "The STUC would be delighted to enter into partnership with business and enterprise groups but, in our experience, these groups would rather concentrate their efforts on spurious arguments about red tape and regulation."
