Assistant Secretary David Moxham said:
“STUC welcomes the decision by ASDA to abolish wage differentials for those under 18. The decision shows that the company is prepared to take seriously its commitment to train and retain younger workers.
“We hope and expect that other employers, particularly large retailers will follow this lead.
“Not so long ago ASDA were in dispute with the GMB union, in this context it is tribute both to the GMB, USDAW and trade unionism generally that such a positive outcome has been achieved for younger workers”.
