STUC backs union calls for sacking of Remploy Board
As unions lobbied Prime Minister Tony Blair over Remploy at TUC Conference, STUC Assistant Secretary and Secretary to the STUC Disabled Workers Committee, David Moxham, said:
“We are gravely concerned at threats to Remploy workplaces across Scotland. Remploy provides vital supported employment for disabled workers who have that particular need.
“The review of Remploy conducted by PriceWaterhouseCoopers and the Remploy Board of Directors is flawed and ignores the tremendous potential for development through innovative use of Public Procurement Policy and progressive restructuring.
“Remploy’s problems are not caused by workers but by management and it is time for them to go.”
