STUC calls for clarification on civil service jobs
Speaking in support of statements made by PCS and UNISON in response to today's announcement made by the Minister for Finance and Public Services Reform Minister, Bill Speirs, STUC General Secretary said:
"Yet another Efficient Government statement by the Scottish Executive and yet again, confusion reigns over the fate of civil servant jobs. We need clear assurances from the Executive that there will be no compulsory redundancies or compulsory redeployment of civil servants.
"It is essential that public services are delivered efficiently but productivity improvements come from investing in people not cutting their jobs.
"We fully support the public sector unions call for an urgent meeting with the Minister to clarify the situation over civil service jobs."
