STUC Concerned at Unhelpful Speculation over ICL/Stockline
The STUC are expressing concern over the effect recent speculation as to the likely cause of the explosion at the ICL/Stockline plant in Maryhill the occurred in May.
Ian Tasker, STUC Assistant Secretary said,
"These reports appear to be nothing more than speculation. The STUC has been contacted by workers at the plant expressing concerns at these stories which are adding to the anxiety of workers and families during an already traumatic period.
"It is imperative that the Crown Office and HSE are allowed to complete this investigation without interference from third parties and the time involved by both agencies in answering these speculative claims could lead to unnecessary delays in completing the investigation.
"While it would be practically impossible to trace the source of this speculation, the STUC would hope that those responsible consider the effect that these reports have on those who have lost relatives or been injured following this tragedy."
