Public Sector Pension Negotiations Avert Day of Action
The Public Sector Pensions Day of Action activities planned for Wednesday (23rd March) co-ordinated by the Scottish TUC have been cancelled following discussions between unions and the Government who have now agreed to withdraw proposed changes to the schemes which would have raised pension and retirement ages across the public sector.
Scottish TUC General Secretary Bill Speirs said "We are delighted that constructive discussions will now take place on the future of pension schemes across the public sector and that union members will be able to ensure that their voices are heard through their trade unions."
Bill Speirs added "The STUC, in conjunction with our affiliated unions, will continue to campaign for fair pensions - not just in the public sector but the private and voluntary sector too."
