NEWS RELEASE Wednesday 19th November
STUC Women's Conference will today debate an emergency motion and hold a protest relating to the state visit of George W Bush to Britain.
The motion criticises the "increasingly imperialist and aggressive nature of US Foreign policy" and calls on the Westminster government to "break-away from this policy."
The motion goes on to "condemn the state visit to Britain of George W Bush" and resolves to support the Scottish demonstrations against his visit.

The STUC Women's committee banner and the CND banner will provide the backdrop to the protest, which will be addressed by CND Assistant Secretary Marlyn Closier. Also participating in the rally will be STUC President Sandy Boyle and Chair of the STUC Women's Committee, Agnes Tolmie.
The protest will highlight the continuing opposition in the trade union movement and wider Scottish society to the international policies agenda of the current Whitehouse administration.
STUC Assistant Secretary Rozanne Foyer urged all Scots to join the protests in Glasgow (today 5.30pm George Square), Edinburgh and London.
She said: "Scottish people, and Scottish women in particular, are massively opposed to the U.S. policy of global domination. The STUC Women's Conference calls on all Scots to join the protests to show George Bush and Tony Blair what we think of their policy in Iraq."
