Traditionally, Trade Unions have been established around a particular trade or type of work, but today there are also many general unions with agreements on the sectors of industry workers they will seek to represent.

If your workplace already has a union representative, ask to join the workplace union. If any of your colleagues are members of a union, it is in your interests to join the same union.
