Date: Friday 15 February 2008
Venue: The Lighthouse, Scotland’s Centre for Architecture, Design and the City, Mitchell Lane, Glasgow G1.
The conference is designed to highlight issues often overlooked in the mainstream discourse around climate change. In particular, we will consider the potential impact of climate change on:
Employment in Scotland: opportunities and threats; The Scottish workplace: work organisation, job design and change management; The regulatory framework: the changing relationship between government and business; and, Skills: the generic and specific skills required to sustain and grow employment.
Speakers include:
John Swinney MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Sustainable Growth
Paul Noon, General Secretary, Prospect and Chair of TUSDAC
Maf Smith, Director, Sustainable Development Commission Scotland
Brendan Dick, BT Scotland and the Climate Change Business Leaders Group
Duncan McLaren, Chief Executive, Friends of the Earth Scotland
The day will conclude with an MSP panel.
The cost, including lunch, is £40 per delegate. Full details will be circulated later this week to STUC affiliates and other stakeholders. Capacity is restricted to 100 delegates - we are expecting a good response so an early response is recommended.
Please return delegates form to Sandra Walker swalker@stuc.org.uk at the STUC by Friday 1 February.
