  • Scottish Parliament Trade Union Week

Fifteen events were arranged during the week. These included a well attended Garden lobby reception on Wednesday 16th January, with at least 50 MSPs and a number of parliamentary staff in attendance. The demonstration and lobby in conjunction with the Families Against Corporate Killing campaign achieved a good attendance and media coverage.

Parliamentary Committee time was allocated to a joint seminar with the STUC, on ‘Productivity in the Workplace’ which was very successful.

Meetings were arranged with various representatives of political parties, including the Shadow Cabinet, and these are referred to in other reports.

The STUC Youth Committee organised a meeting and tour for young members. Affiliates and Equality Committee members contributed to the various displays in the Parliament building. Three events were organised by the Skills and Lifelong Learning Team, to showcase the work of Union Learning reps, along with a drop in session.

Cathy Peattie MSP led a Member’s Business Debate in the Chamber on Wednesday 16th January, on ‘Young People in the Workplace’.
