  • STUC Appoints New General Secretary

Grahame Smith, 47, has been appointed as the new General Secretary of the STUC. Grahame was previously Deputy General Secretary and headed the STUC’s Policy and Campaigns Department.
Grahame, a graduate of Strathclyde University, where he obtained an Honours Degree in Economics and Industrial Relations, has worked at the STUC for twenty years. Commenting on his appointment he said:“The STUC has a long and distinguished history in Scottish society and I feel very honoured and privileged to be given the opportunity to lead it into the future. “As General Secretary I intend to build on our great past and to ensure that, in these early years of the 21st Century, the STUC is increasingly relevant to and influential on behalf of working people in Scotland.”
