Department of Human Resource Management in conjunction with the Scottish Trades Union Congress

Knowledge Management Co-ordinator (KTP Associate)

Salary range: 21,000 p.a. plus £4k training budget

24 month fixed term contract

This post arises out of a Knowledge Transfer Partnership between the University of Strathclyde and the Scottish Trades Unions Congress. The successful candidate (KTP Associate) will be employed on a collaborative project aimed at developing and embedding a knowledge management system to support the strategic development of union-led learning.

An honours degree (2.1 or above) in a relevant social science discipline is an essential requirement of this post. Having a postgraduate qualification (ie Masters or above) would be an advantage, as would any qualification or significant experience in research methods and the use of IT systems such as databases. Candidates should be confident, articulate and able communicators with strong personal skills and self-motivation. The ability to plan and organise time, and to undertake and manage tasks simultaneously and independently, is also required.

The KTP Associate will be employed by the University on a 2 year contract, and will be based full-time at the Scottish Trades Union Congress in Glasgow. An enhanced professional development package is provided and opportunities may be available for further post-graduate study.

Modern Apprenticeship Development Officer (Fixed term Contract for a period of 12 months - 34 hours per week )

The STUC – Scotland’s Trade Union Centre – is seeking to recruit a Development Officer for a Modern Apprenticeship Project that will be run in partnership by Scottish Union Learning and Skills Development Scotland. The aim of the Modern Apprenticeship Project is to increase and develop trade union activity and engagement with the Modern Apprenticeship Programme in Scotland. Successful candidates will have a commitment to trade union values, the promotion of equality and a knowledge of the work unions do in relation to skills and lifelong learning.

The post will be based in Glasgow although some travel to other regions will be expected. The post may be considered on a secondment basis. The salary is £33,159 p.a.
